Through a generous grant from the California Department of Food and Agriculture, Western Growers Foundation was able to award $600 to 100 California Head Start Centers. After visiting several centers, this video was created, "Seven Tips for Head Start and Pre-school Edible Gardens."

Western Growers Foundation Awards School Garden Grants

Today, Western Growers Foundation awarded $1,500 grants to nine schools in California and Arizona to help grow school gardens. Since 2002, the effort has funded more than 500 school gardens throughout California and Arizona.

CA Assemblyman Gatto joins WGF at School Garden

Assemblyman Mike Gatto helped students in his district plant their school garden made possible through a grant from Western Growers Foundation on May 20.

WGF awards 50 California Head Start sites

This month, Western Growers Foundation will be awarding 50 Head Start sites with garden grants.  Partnering for the fifth year with the California Head Start Association, WGF will be able to supply 50 sites with funding and garden education resources, made possible by a Specialty Crop Block Grant through the California Department of Food and Agriculture.  

WGF grants $15,000 to 10 schools

On January 15, 2010, Western Growers Foundation awarded ten $1500 garden grants to California Schools.  These grants were made possible by a grant to WGF from the Monsanto Fund.

WG Foundation Funds More Schools To Spread the Word

More California and Arizona school children will have access to healthy snacks, nutrition education and information about where their food comes from thanks to the Western Growers Foundation (WGF).

In July, the foundation awarded $15,000 in school garden grants, educator resources and drip irrigation kits (courtesy of John Deere Water) to 10 alifornia garden education programs. Additionally it awarded $1,250 and a one day training program for three teachers to each of 10 Arizona schools.

WGF, Monsanto Fund Partner on School Gardens

Western Growers Foundation announced today it has received a $30,000 grant from Monsanto Fund, a private foundation and the philanthropic arm of Monsanto Company, to help establish school gardens throughout California.
