WGF Announces 2013 Arizona School Garden Grant

Fifty K – 12 Schools to Receive $1,500 Each

Western Growers Foundation (WGF) is pleased to announce the 2013 Arizona Edible School Garden Grant. This grant is open to all K-12 Arizona schools. Fifty schools will receive $1,500 each to create and sustain their fruit and vegetable gardens.

These competitive garden grants will be awarded to schools that can demonstrate how they will use garden-enhanced education to teach students where their food comes from and the important of good nutrition.

Gardens provide excellent nutrition education and physical activity opportunities for children through the experiences of planting, harvesting, and eating the fruits and vegetables they have grown.

This program is made possible through a USDA Specialty Crop Block Grant, administered through Arizona Department of Agriculture, to WGF.

Applications must be completed and submitted by Tuesday, April 30, 2013. Only online applications will be accepted.
